Drishti

Stabilised multi-sensor gimbal. Drishti means “sight”.

A three-axis gimbal with wide, zoom and thermal cameras, a laser rangefinder and an illuminator in one head.

Drishti is a compact three-axis gimbal for inspection, security and search, with wide, zoom and a third camera, a thermal window, a laser rangefinder and an illuminator in one rounded head. It is the primary payload of Shadanga, hung from a U-yoke, a roll housing and a yaw spindle under a quick-release plate.

Where it fits.

  • Inspection: read a tag or crack from a safe stand-off, then confirm hot-spots on thermal.
  • Security and search: wide context, thermal at night, range to target from the rangefinder.
  • Mapping belongs to the Uddan cassette. Drishti is the look-and-measure head.

Works with.

  • Airframe: the Shadanga quick-release plate and connector. The same plate interface is reserved for future SPATICS airframes.
  • Video: live feed to the Kendra ground station, with the stream recorded on board.
  • Control: gimbal and camera commands over MAVLink, and targeting data returned with range.

Key features.

  • Four principal windows

Two-by-two on a single front plane: three camera lenses of different sizes and one dark thermal window.

  • Two auxiliary windows

One short horizontal illuminator window and one round laser rangefinder window.

  • Three-axis mechanism

Pitch trunnions on the U-yoke, a roll housing behind the head, a yaw drum under the plate. Cables route internally through every joint.

  • Quick-release mounting plate

Vibration mounts, an orange index for alignment, a keyed power and data socket and a USB-C service port on the stationary block.

  • Sealed optics

Clear coated front glass with a green anti-reflective sheen. The illuminator window sits recessed behind its bezel with a sealed rim.

All figures are indicative targets, subject to optical, thermal and mechanical validation; the optical zoom ratio and sealing depend on the final sensor set.

Drishti is concept hardware in development and is not offered for sale. Export may be subject to Indian SCOMET controls.

Design and materials.

Dark matte charcoal polymer head with a pebble grain, carbon-fibre yoke and plate, satin anodised aluminium pivot caps and fully metallic lens barrels. Small burnt-orange index marks on head and mount, and one green status LED.

Briefings and demonstrations.
